The Chennai Astronomy Club kickstarted 2022 with our first star party of the year. The event was held at a camping ground near Kavalur VBO and saw the participation of 15 astronomy enthusiasts. There was a session on basics of both visual astronomy and astrophotography.

Surprised that this video is spreading this much. This is an artist's rendition of what the moon would look like if its orbit was at the same height as the International Space Station.

Also, no. The moon doesn't make noises when it eclipses the sun 😆

Watch Mars emerge from behind the moon this April 17th at 7:33pm in Chennai.

Chennaites, look towards north-east/east between 7PM to 8PM today. ISRO *may* launch RH-560 MkIII, a sounding rocket to conduct experiments in the atmosphere. You should be able to see bright, colorful plumes if the launch takes place.

[Chennai Astronomy Club @CACastronomers]

[Chennai Astronomy Club @CACastronomers]

But wait, there's a rocket launch today at 3:02PM IST and if you're living in Chennai, look towards north and you'll be able to spot it if the sky is clear.

We hope you have a great weekend :)
