Congratulations on 1 year sober to Darran! 🎉
“I can’t believed I’m about to say this.. & I can’t believe it took me 30 years to work it out.
For the first time since I was 14 years old I have not drank alcohol for 1 straight. I am 1 year completely alcohol free bone dry sober.
1 year ago I made the decision to stop & I can’t believe it, I bloody did it!
No shocking, disgusting, horrible life sapping hangovers for a year!!
Here’s to anyone who never drank a drop in their life, you crazy bastards.. I wish I never started.
Here’s to everyone who can drink occasionally an not have it affect them negatively
Here’s to everyone who is making the decision to stop drinking completely
And here’s to the people that feel stuck in the drinking cycle & can’t fathom the idea of stopping… It’s hard, super bloody hard but what got me through was making the commitment to my loved ones to stop.
Once it wasn’t about me, it was easy♥️🥹
You can do it, I dare you to😉
(Stop drinking today & check back with me in a year from now🙏🏼)
Ps.. I look worse than when I was drinking!!🤣🤣🤣”

Alcohol consumption has been associated with excessive mortality from cancer for more than a century. Even at low levels of intake, it can cause cancer–mostly head, neck, and gastrointestinal cancers in men and breast cancer in women. https://t.co/mZeW9dQG9L
Did you know? Alcohol is a Group 1 carcinogen, like tobacco and asbestos, meaning it is proven to cause cancer in humans. Linked to cancers of the mouth, throat, liver, colon, and breast, its harmful effects stem from acetaldehyde, a toxic byproduct that damages DNA. Even moderate drinking increases cancer risk.
Alcohol is a known carcinogen, just like tobacco and asbestos.
It damages DNA, disrupts hormones, and raises cancer risk—even at low doses.
So why do so many people still think it’s safe?
One woman thought her nightly glass of wine was healthy—until her diagnosis proved otherwise.
🧵 THREAD
"There has been proposed to be anywhere from 4 to 13% increase in risk of breast cancer for every 10 grams of alcohol consumed." - @hubermanlab
How much is 10 grams?
It depends on the country
In the US, 1 beer or 1 glass of wine is ~10-12g of alcohol
