California's Forest Management Task Force was organized to protect the environmental quality, public health, and economic benefits that healthy forests provide.
California’s wildfire & climate resilience goals require a multisolution approach. State leaders visited Dave Daley, a cattle rancher, to learn how localized strategies can work together to build #ClimateResilience & reduce wildfire risk.

Forests and other wildlands will be a part of these ambitious plans and reduce the risk of catastrophic wildfires as a secondary but important benefit.
President Biden signed an Executive Order on climate change that includes plans to advance 30 by 30 nationwide. We’re excited to work with the Biden Administration to implement these policies in a thoughtful way in CA, and to provide a strong example of leadership to get it done.
A key component w/in the @CAgovernor's Wildfire & Forest Resilience Action Plan is increasing funding to tribal partners to expand cultural burning & other traditional forest health practices.

Lastly, thank you to the federal, local, tribal, regional and private organizations that invested time into creating this collaborative plan to align our efforts. This is a major step toward building wildfire and climate resilience in California.
We are also thrilled to see a $1 billion investment in the @CAgovernor proposed 2021-2022 budget. This proposed funding would advance key priorities and fund early actions to protect communities, reduce wildfire risk, and jumpstart economic recovery in rural communities.
We are very excited to share the release of CA’s Wildfire and Forest Resilience Action Plan. This comprehensive action plan covers forested, natural and working lands, and will guide the Task Force and the state to 2025 and beyond. https://t.co/z0pIhVxtA0
More acres of Sierra 🌲🦉🌳🌲have burned since 2010 than any other decade in over 100 years. 🔥 is not always bad but large high-severity 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥s like we saw in the last 10 years threaten communities and infrastructure and damage, rather than maintain, healthy 🌲🦉🌳🌲s.
This graphic novel gets a lot right, including that prescribed fire is an essential tool for managing North American forests, including those in the Sierra Nevada. h/t to @pyrogeog.

In 2014, the #KingFire ran15 miles overnight, burning an area 1.5x the size of San Francisco and leaving almost 50,000 acres of dead trees in its wake. Was this a new kind of fire? Watch our new video. https://t.co/AuE1sZUGjE #wildfire#restorethesierra#caforests
On 11/1/19, the Caples Fire was 100% contained. The fire was mostly kept within the original project boundaries and resulted in a historically characteristic burn pattern, creating diverse habitat for fire-adapted species to thrive.
Forest management is a multi-agency challenge that requires a multi-solution response. The Forest Management Task Force is committed to bringing everyone to the table and using science to guide us as we work to restore our lands. https://t.co/dSBwu9Oy2F
