It maybe good for a swim when training but not if you have not planned to do so. It's coming up on that time of year know when it's safe to venture out onto the ice.
Here’s our rainbow of hope, 🌈 and we encourage other fire departments to do the same. 🌈
We have been inspired by the children in our town. They have been placing rainbows in their windows as signs of hope, and now the Conception Bay South Fire Department has done the same.
Jack Hickey, now an instructor with the Rovers Search and Rescue team getting ready to go in the water for a staged ice rescue. “It’s about to get cold,” he joked.
Getting ready for a Staged Rescue of ATV Driver Through Ice at Worsley Park, C.B.S. The ice is actually very thick. So they’re cutting a hole for “the victim.”
Emergency Responders are in CBS, to reenact the rescue of a victim from a partially frozen body of water at Worsley Park. An ATV will be placed through the ice. The rescue will be narrated by the Conception Bay South Fire Chief. @590VOCM@Fred_Hutton#nltraffic
Even though it’s an exercise it’s still makes my heart pound. The revisers used a sling to pull the victim from the water in this instance. CBS Fire Chief Heffernan narrates the operation. @590VOCM
Today we staged the rescue of an ATV driver through the ice to demonstrate - ice is never truly safe.
Thank you to CBS Fire Dept, RNC, RCMP, Rover’s and Central Avalon Ground Search & Rescue and Avalon T'Railway Corporation for making this important event happen.
