Drake's legal team doubles down on claims that UMG engaged in "unlawful efforts to turn 'Not Like Us' into a viral mega-hit" with a newly submitted 26-page motion for discovery ⚖️
The motion, filed in the Bexar County District Court, requests:
▫️ A deposition of a UMG representative (max 4 hours) on Not Like Us promotion tactics, UMG’s agreements with iHeartRadio, streaming services, and Texas-based radio stations, promotional deals with influencers, methods for boosting social media engagement (including bots), financial transactions with Texas-based entities, and UMG’s overall business presence in Texas.
▫️ Documents on UMG’s Not Like Us promotion strategy, financial records tied to licensing and revenue in Texas, contracts with Texas-based entities, employee presence in Texas, and all meetings held in Texas since January 1, 2024, where Not Like Us, Drake, or Kendrick Lamar were discussed.
Drake's legal team has released a new statement regarding the lawsuit against UMG over 'Not Like Us'
"UMG is masquerading as a champion of artistic freedom by calling its actions merely "entertainment," but there is nothing entertaining about p*dophilia or child abuse in the real world. We are confident that the evidence we will ultimately present at trial, including information we've already learned and continue to receive since filing the lawsuit, will expose UMG's gross prioritization of its own corporate profits and executive bonuses over its exclusively signed artists' well-being and the truth."
