1 Caste discrimination victim definition excludes general category

2 Equity committee composition excludes mention of general category

While any kind of caste discrimination on the campus is wrong, India has seen enough of students having to suffer the consequences of it, however shouldn’t the law be encompassing and ensure protection is guaranteed to all? Why this discrimination in application of law? What happens in case of false cases? How does one decide guilt?How does one describe discrimination- through words, actions or perceptions? The applicability of law has to be clear, precise and equal for all.
Hence instead of creating a bad environment on campuses I’d urge that the UGC notification either be
withdrawn or corrected.

कैंपस में किसी भी प्रकार का जातिगत भेदभाव गलत है, और भारत में पहले ही कई छात्र इसके दुष्परिणाम झेल चुके हैं। लेकिन क्या कानून को समावेशी नहीं होना चाहिए और यह सुनिश्चित नहीं करना चाहिए कि सभी को समान रूप से संरक्षण मिले? फिर कानून के लागू होने में यह भेदभाव क्यों? झूठे मामलों की स्थिति में क्या होगा? दोष का निर्धारण कैसे किया जाएगा? भेदभाव को कैसे परिभाषित किया जाए- शब्दों से, कार्यों से या धारणाओं से?
कानून की लागू होने की प्रक्रिया स्पष्ट, सटीक और सभी के लिए समान होनी चाहिए।

अतः कैंपस में नकारात्मक माहौल बनाने के बजाय, मैं आग्रह करती हूँ कि UGC की यह अधिसूचना या तो वापस ली जाए या उसमें आवश्यक संशोधन किया जाए।
