Then through the greed and jealousy of another person gets the means to change the problem. The comics aren’t even subtle about it. It’s in your face even. I don’t know how people manage to miss it.

Some people forget why Miguel being an asshole in the comics is narratively important. Capitalism and corporatism preys on men, coaching and coaxing them into supporting the system, no matter how upstanding they used to seem. It makes them cruel and arrogant.

Miguel trying to quit and being forced into staying is remarkably similar to how some corporations behave. It took him seeing someone dying for the chance to get out of prison early to convince him to leave and try to change himself.
