Well it looks like a great send off this weekend! There are two rentals today, 5-6 and 8-9pm. Otherwise open ice. This weekend there are 4 rentals at normal times. The ice team will flood saturdAy and Sunday. Then we close it down on Monday.
Hey here is a Sunday morning surprise! The ice crew feels that a green flag all day today is good! After cleaning the ice it looks good for a Sunday skate until late day when rain is predicted. We will close the ice when it rains.
Sorry folks, red flag today and tomorrow. Today it’s due to the sheer volume of snow that’s fallen since the ice crew scraped the ice at 7:00 this morning. I have left shovels out. But as temperatures rise over the day to 5 degrees and potential rain comes, we can save the ice.
Green flag is back up today, likely tomorrow too. Skating days are growing short I fear. This weekends forecast is a bit foreboding. Stay tuned in, same Bat Time, same Bat Station....
RED FLAG TODAY. Here is where patience will save the ice. With colder temps coming, staying off the ice today will allow the ice team to flood and have the rink available soonest.
Honour the outdoor ice code. If shinny is on and skaters want to just skate, shorten the ice and let skaters do their thing behind one net. #sharetheice
The ice crew won’t be clearing the ice until this snow stops. That’s likely this afternoon at some time. But on the good news side of things, we can have sticks and pucks on the ice again as of today!I will tweet out when the ice team is done.
This is sad news from a very dedicated team of parents who run one of the few outdoor hockey leagues left in Canada. The non competitive nature of this league makes it so very inclusive. I hope that we all see it prosper next season. It’s an ideal opportunity to learn to play.
