I recently had a call with Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Bourita, to discuss Canada’s position on Western Sahara. Canada recognizes Morocco’s autonomy plan as a credible and serious basis for a mutually acceptable solution. I also underscored the importance of achieving a just, lasting, and mutually acceptable settlement in line with the principles of the UN Charter.

Canada is deeply concerned about the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza and reaffirm our opposition to Israeli settlement expansion and settler violence in the West Bank.
Earlier today, I spoke with President Mahmoud Abbas to discuss the measures taken by the Palestinian Authority to strengthen accountability, governance, and democratic institutions, in which Hamas can play no part.
We will continue to promote peace and stability in the region, and work closely with partners toward this goal.

I expressed my solidarity with Qatar in the face of Iranian missile and drone attacks, and conveyed my thanks to Qatar for working to ensure the safety of Canadians in Qatar and working with Canada to secure transportation options for Canadians wishing to leave the country.
We called for an immediate end to attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure, and discussed efforts to de-escalate the conflict and reach a diplomatic solution.

- block bookings of seats on commercial flights; and
- ground transportation services when it is safe to do so.
