If due date of GSTR-3B cannot be extended after yesterdays fiasco, here is a suggestion-
Late Fees shall be collected from 14th of every month as soon as GSTR-2B is generated..
Else someone has to take the responsibility because it was not only for GST Returns that portal was not working but many other compliance are required to be done which fail due to such inefficient working of Portal..@Infosys_GSTN
Late fees, Interest & other applicable impact for filling delayed GSTR-3B should be relaxed for the month of March 2026.
The portal isn't working on the due date itself.
Thankfully I filled two appeals yesterday night itself which were time barring Tommorow 😊
@Infosys_GSTN@FinMinIndia
Portal needs to function..As much as is the responsibility is of the taxpayer to file return timely..greater responsibility lies with @Infosys_GSTN to have the portal working when GSTR-2B is generated by 14th and return is to be filed by 20th...#GSTR3BExtension..
Please extend due date for March GSTR-3B & protect from Late fee
Returns could not be filed entire day due to portal glitches & the problem has been reported at a mass level.
If not extended, then what would be the valid & moral reason for the same? @Infosys_GSTN@cbic_india
Statute gives seven days for preparing GSTR-3B and that involves from verification to filing because any error results in Interest and Penalty.
In those six days, if someone says why come on last day..it is because the return has to be prepared, checked and verified not only from the books of accounts but also Portal generated documents which are generated on the basis of third party compliance.
Better the last date theory is not put up here and the portal is upgraded because this is the portal which is generating something like 24 Lakh crore yearly as a revenue for the governments and if this cannot be corrected then nothing deserves in the country...@FinMinIndia
GST Portal again failing on crucial due dates!!
With strict GST timelines, a working portal is the bare minimum.Faulty systems on last dates waste thousands of man-hours, burden taxpayers with undue interest.
Due date should be extended immediately @Infosys_GSTN@cbic_india
World is exploring Artificial Intelligence with full force and here we are - struggling for a properly working portal. Bad example for Digital India
We never complain; we keep adapting, re-filing, and guiding clients with a smile — because professionalism demands perseverance.
But let’s be honest — Due-date extensions should not be celebrated; they should be prevented.
What we seek is not sympathy, but systemic stability — reliable digital platforms that honour the time, integrity, and commitment.
Ease of doing business truly begins with Ease of compliance.
Another year, another crash 💻✨
Taxpayers wait, Govt counts penalties.

We urge @IncomeTaxIndia to issue a timely & fair extension of #TaxAudit due date, keeping in view the representation made by @theicai.
This will provide much-needed relief to taxpayers & auditors, ensuring quality compliance and reducing unnecessary stress!!

Good Morning Friends
Whatever has happened with ITR let's forget it and focus on TAR. From today's it's only 13 days and it's impossible to complete all TAR by 30-Sep.
Direct Tax Committee of ICAI @dtc_icai needs to be proactive this time. Members can't afford non-extension this time.
One good thing is that, as DTC & ICAI @theicai will be officially involved we will get desired results.
Trust your Council and Mother Institute.
Thanks

Whether we speak or stay silent, criticism follows. I choose to speak because silence does not solve issues. Many members share the same feelings as a common professional.
At the same time, some even say, wait till elections, some took screen shots, some call me BJP person, some say person of Govt, some say how much I am paid for & much more, some even curse to institute & elected representatives but my intent is simple, to raise genuine concerns as a professional that affect us all.
You all aware that institute has earlier communicated to department that institute will not go to department for date extension issue, its department and trade bodies who has to look and consider.
Existing govt elected by citizen of india is working since last 12 years. The department’s portal glitches have become a yearly challenge since its launch. Professionals face immense stress as deadlines approach, clients delay, yet pressure mounts on CAs. While in earlier years, extensions were granted (sometimes suo moto, sometimes by court intervention), now the stance has changed, even through courts have granted relief to the department in earlier years and the decision of the department remains final, the department sends reminders to assessees about due dates that emphasise ‘no extension.’
On one hand, the data shows more than 7 crore returns have been filed, a big achievement. On the other, the lived reality of professionals struggling with portal issues cannot be ignored.
We are not here to criticize anyone, but to expect that these systemic issues be resolved once and for all. Constructive feedback should not be seen as opposition, it is a collective call for smoother compliance and respect for the profession.
I urge department to ensure timely release of ITR forms & utilities, bugs in portal to be reported & corrected on time.
I will be very honest in saying that at the same time, we also need to change our mind set of doing the things on last date. Let us also try to release and manage the undue pressure by changing the way of practice we are following since years.

I would request someone from the Social Media Team of ICAI @theicai to read the tweets and comments on Twitter to understand the ground reality.
Members are neither satisfied nor happy with one day extension and no words on TAR extension.
The fear and anger is real and it should be addressed timely.
I hope someone will do the needful and update our leadership about Members expectations.
Thanks 🙏🏻

KIND ATTENTION TAXPAYERS!
The due date for filing of Income Tax Returns (ITRs) for AY 2025-26, originally due on 31st July 2025, was extended to 15th September 2025.
The Central Board of Direct Taxes has decided to further extend the due date for filing these ITRs for AY 2025-26 from 15th September, 2025 to 16th September, 2025.
To enable changes in the utilities, the e- filing portal will remain in maintenance mode from 12:00 AM to 02:30AM on 16th September 2025.
Press Release issued:
The debate on ITR due date extension returns every year. Extension becomes an issue, no extension becomes an issue, even timely extension becomes an issue.
The Government has the difficult task of balancing fiscal needs, administrative efficiency, and fairness. Ultimately, the decision to extend or not to extend lies with the Government, guided by what it believes is best for the nation.
But as a profession, we have a larger responsibility. Chartered Accountants are not just service providers to assessees, we are stakeholders in the nation’s economic discipline. Assessees seek relief from penalties and technical hurdles. Professionals face heavy workload and systemic challenges. Trade bodies represent collective hardships. Even within our fraternity, questions arise—what ICAI is doing becomes an issue, criticising the Government is an issue, not criticising is also an issue.
Yet beyond all these debates, one truth remains clear: each of us knows what needs to be done and what can be done. Compliance is not about fear of penalties, it is about strengthening trust in governance, ensuring timely revenue for development, and building India’s credibility as a disciplined economy.
Let us, as responsible stakeholders, move towards a culture where timely compliance is the norm and extensions remain the rare exception. The Government may decide on the extension, but the responsibility of compliance rests with all of us. A stronger compliance culture is not just good for taxpayers or professionals, it is good for the country.
Advance Income Tax payment of thousands of crores by Indian taxpayers is not able to be initiated because of non responsive #Incometax portal which is due by tomorrow.
Tomorrow is also the last date of filing of #IncomeTax returns for Financial year 2024-25 and nearly 1.5 Crore returns are pending to be filed as the site is non responsive and throws numerous glitches.
Social media is full of such complaints.
Some Professionals Logic:
👉 Non-Audit cases? ❌ No extension required - 'else taxpayers will become lazy'
👉 Audit cases? ✅ Extension required - 'else professionals will become crazy'
