Important reminder: while we all stress over the election, for virtually all of human history people weren't allowed to choose their own leaders and lived in utter impoverishment -- and for billions all over the globe, that's still true. America is a pretty amazing place.
Here's my theory. Human beings need to struggle. We cannot luxuriate in our comforts unendingly and be happy. We need some kind of fight, some sacrifice, some obstacle to overcome. So we will create struggles for ourselves. And there are two ways to do that.
Of all ignorance, the ignorance of the educated is the most dangerous. Not only are educated people likely to have more influence, they are the last people to suspect that they don't know what they are talking about when they go outside their narrow fields.
“No justice, no peace” is yet another of the many clever but shallow and irresponsible phrases of our time. No situation in any society of human beings is likely to be regarded as justice by everyone. Does that mean that everlasting violence is justified?
"Every book has been rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street and building has been renamed, every date has been altered...History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right." -- 1984, George Orwell
I have to say I agree with this. It’s not reasonable to ask Americans to crash their economy and lose their jobs when we could push out mass testing and only isolate the infected. South Korea did this and they are showing a decrease in infections.
PEOPLE CAN’T AFFORD TO STAY IN THERE HOUSES! We have bills to pay and mouths to feed. It is not your ‘civic duty’ to self isolate, it’s the governments duty to put measures in place to keep all its citizens safe
Okay people help settle this argument:
When you buy bananas at the store do you...
A. tear off the amount of bananas you want to buy
OR
B. buy the entire bunch of bananas
(p.s. option A is correct)
The United States is NOT a Democracy, we are a Constitutional Republic.
Failure to understand the difference gives mob rule to self-serving, clueless potential political tyrants, like you.
During America’s darkest hours, God has consistently blessed us with ordinary people who do extraordinary things, including making the ultimate sacrifice to secure and maintain our freedom. Happy #IndependenceDay ! #4thOfJuly https://t.co/kuA2bt26sC
In case you missed it:
We have just arrived at a point in society where people believe that protecting an infant’s life is “barbaric” but allowing women to crush, dismember, and poison a developing body is progressive.
