Congress must act to codify Roe and the filibuster should not stand in the way.
But right now, we don’t have the votes to change the filibuster. That means we need to elect more Democratic senators and reelect our House majority in November to get this bill to my desk.
@Teri_Kanefield @avtty5 Thank you, Teri. This is what I’ve been seeing all day. Democrats blaming democrats and pushing defeatist nonsense like “oh my vote can fix this? When’s the next Supreme Court election” completely ignoring that we have a shot at flipping 2 senate seats and axing the filibuster.
@RepSpeier Thank you Rep Speier.
I was a responder at Cleveland School shooting 1989 and have so much respect for you as you actually did something. You are a hero to so many.
As a dad and husband of a teacher, my heart breaks for Uvalde.
But I'm angry. Students, teachers, and parents shouldn't have to live in fear.
We passed gun safety in the House. Twice. Bipartisan. The Senate must end the filibuster and find the moral courage to get this done.
Sidenote: the Biden administration just got the credit agencies to stop putting most medical debt on credit scores — one of the biggest boons for consumer rights in a decade — and I have not seen any Democrat anywhere bragging about this.
Pay attention to this! When Republicans last controlled Congress they lowered taxes for the richest Americans.
Take note: Republicans are promising if they control Congress again they will RAISE your taxes so the rich can keep paying less.
Just this week:
- @POTUS proposed ACA expansion
- Postal Service Reform Act signed into law
- $20.5B in BIL transit funding announced
- Student loan payment pause extended
- Bills to ban Russian oil imports & suspend trade relations headed to @POTUS' desk
- JUSTICE Jackson
Desperately sad story from just outside Kyiv, about a woman called Iryna whose son was killed by Russian soldiers. We were the first outsiders she'd seen since the Russians left her village on Friday. Shot and edited by @leedurant. Produced by @producerkathy
My wife and I worked 50 years, paid into SS and paid our taxes. Now at 73 we are disabled and can't work. Republicans want to take away SS that we live on. What are we supposed to do if they are successful?
