The first air-cooled K450-AC3 He compressor from Oxford Cryosystems installed last week @CBASS_telescope in the Karoo desert, South Africa helping to collect a more accurate picture of the Cosmic Microwave Background. #RadioAstronomy https://t.co/z0Xe238TSb
Paper predicting the impact of C-BASS on #CMB foreground parameter constraints in single pixels out today. To constrain the synchrotron spectral index requires low-frequency data, such as that from C-BASS. Spectral curvature requires more data. https://t.co/WlrKMdKubt 📡🐟🌌
The design and performance of the Northern digital backend is available on @arxiv today. Particular focus on (1) demodulation and filtering that suppresses contaminating signals, (2) the real-time correction of non-linearity and receiver balance. 📡 https://t.co/v5Do38Kkia
New results from C-BASS, we have shown that the anomalous microwave emission in the NCP region at higher frequencies cannot be explained by synchrotron or free-free #SCIENCE#MicrowaveForegrounds#CMB. 🐟📡https://t.co/L4e5a6DkR4
NEW PODCAST EPISODE: Over 7 million viewers tuned in for the #bakeoff final last night! But what we want to know is can you bake a cake in a microwave? To find out we went @OxfordPhysics https://t.co/tk2SzGw6h8 #GBBO
And the final C-BASS talk of #cmbforegrounds18 was given by Richard Grumitt. He gave an incredibly enthusiastic talk on point sources in the C-BASS maps and our efforts to determine the zero level of the maps.
Jaz Hill-Valler is currently talking about next generation low-frequency surveys at #cmbforegrounds18. She is describing well-developed plans for X-BASS (to supersede C-BASS South), then NextBASS and finally ELFS. The plot shows predicted sensitivities.
Angela Taylor has shown C-BASS Q, U, E and B maps for the first time at #cmbforegrounds18. If people are interested and didn't get a chance to ask a question, please come and talk to Angela or any other C-BASS members here or by email/twitter 🐟📡
The C-BASS collaboration have been busy recently - lots of us are at #cmbforegrounds18 this week presenting our work.
We have five upcoming talks on the current status of the project and we will share links to our slides. Coming up next is Angela Taylor...
Prof Mike Jones from @OxfordPhysics is presenting a talk on C-BASS and NextBASS at the 15th Marcel Grossmann meeting in
@SapienzaRoma today. https://t.co/2KVZbNacvP
Happy International Women in Engineering Day! @CBASS_telescope PI Angela is featured on the @SKA_telescope website today for her role as Engineering Project Manager for the high-frequency radio receivers. Read more at https://t.co/Z9ZD0EPCp4 #INWED18#TeamSKA@OxfordPhysics
If you couldn’t make it to the UK CMB Town Hall meeting at @RoyalAstroSoc in London last week, you can see the slides from @LukeJew ’s talk on C-BASS and low-frequency experiments here:
