Using 2024 ACS data, the Center for Economic and Business Research at LSUS studied rental housing affordability and availability in Louisiana. We estimate the Shreveport-Bossier area has only 54 affordable rental units per 100 ELI renter households.

The labor force participation rate for Louisiana is 59.3%. This map illustrates rates across Louisiana parishes. Claiborne Parish has the lowest at 36.5%, and Ascension Parish has the highest at 68.2%.

Louisiana is getting older. Since 1980 the percentage of our population 65 or older has increased to 17.7%. Our latest report looks at this trend across the state and compares the growth of our senior population to the decrease in our kids population.
