@willie_lutz I think this is where I'm at with it. DW has this off-season to make it work. We see what happens next season. If we still aren't close, Z has to get traded for a haul and we start with the young core.

Z gives #CBJ the largest haul. Dents/Smith would be easier to move and should get decent returns or packaged into a bigger return. Provorov would be the hardest to move, and would require either retention or paying to move him (or both). So keep that in mind when you vote.

Something #CBJ will have to deal with in the next couple of years is the logjam of LHDs. Provorov is locked up for 7 more seasons. Z has 2. Dents and Jackson Smith both have many years of team control. Someone most likely needs moved out after this season. Who do they move?

@Connor_29cle The problem is you have a logjam on the left side. You also have Jackson Smith who likely will be ready for an NHL role after this season. I think they will have to move at least one of Z, Mateychuk, or Smith in the next year.

Can KJ and Vronk fill those those top 2 spots? Seems unlikely. If KJ can grow beyond what he was 2 seasons ago, maybe he can be 2LW. Vronk looking like odd man out. Need a trade...

@CBJ_Opinions I think he knew back then they were unlikely to sign. Remember, he was going to do that over the Olympic break, then it suddenly wasn't a priority. I think Marchment had too high of a value to let walk when we were still more likely to miss the playoffs at that point.

@CBJ_Opinions He needs to dazzle us. Can't say anything has been impressive so far. We are about to have multiple UFAs walk for nothing (including one who we gave up a 2nd+4th for) on a year where we didn't make the playoffs. We also traded Chinny to PIT, and he helped them make the playoffs.

@CBJProspects The reporting shows there were only a few teams Brady wanted to go. Obviously, Florida had to be the top of that list, so I agree that #CBJ wasn't getting Brady. However, that is the type of swing we need to take. But I'm not holding my breath.

Hearing that the Florida Panthers are getting close to acquiring Brady Tkachuk from the Ottawa Senators.
I believe Ottawa will get three first-round picks and a second-round pick in the deal if finalized. More to come.

@HockeyFanTC IMO, they need to fill at least the top line spot from outside the organization. The problem is throwing a skill guy on the 4th line is a waste. KJ and LDBB can't go on the 4th line. Maybe Vronk. But only if he starts hitting and keeps his conditioning high.

@spacificocean7 Definitely a make or break year for both of them. Wouldn't be surprised to see DV get moved in a deal. KJ has to put on muscle/speed. Both risking being busts unfortunately.
