After nearly 8 years at CBSO, our Director of Learning & Engagement Lucy Galliard is leaving to become Chief Executive of @sinfoniavivauk. Lucy has done a great job on all our Education and Choral activities, and received lovely gifts and a standing ovation at today’s rehearsal!
We are so pleased to announce that Lucy Galliard currently at CBSO will be joining Sinfonia Viva as our new Chief Executive.
Lucy will join in January 2022 at the start of our 40th anniversary year, helping lead the orchestra into our next exciting chapter!
What’s it like having live CBSO concerts back at @THSHBirmingham? ‘Amazing’, ‘wonderful’, ‘fabulous’, ‘delightful’, ‘refreshing’, & ‘beautiful’ but don’t just take our word for it, here’s what the audience had to say.

It's been fantastic to be able to welcome back some of our Children & Youth Choruses this eve to their 1st in-person rehearsal since 09.03.20 (!) with other members singing along on Zoom. Big thanks to conductors Ula Weber (CC), Julian Wilkins (YC) & James Keefe on the 🎹. 👏
Happy birthday to us! On 10 November 1920 Sir Edward Elgar conducted the City of Birmingham Orchestra in its first symphonic concert – and the future CBSO took its first step onto the world stage.

Today was pretty special. The @unibirmingham University Singers on stage at Symphony Hall conjuring up wonders for #DebussyFestival@TheCBSO with Simon Carrington. Gorgeous sounds & good French diction to boot! A privilege to work with them.
An honour tonight to be involved with @CBSOChorus 900th concert. And in Symphony Hall with the amazing @TheCBSO - brilliant team of soloists (thank you Fflur, Oliver, Leigh and Freddy) with a simply superb choir and orchestra! One to treasure for ever.
Oh my, O Fortuna, what a thrilling, dramatic, super energetic performance of Orff's Carmina Burana from @TheCBSO / @CBSOChorus with @Batonflipper Amazing diction through all those wild tongue twisters, and scintillating sound vibrating through your soles to your soul! #Happy900th
