When I do bath time, the typical result is clean kids, a clean bathroom floor, a scrubbed sink and toilet, trimmed nails, and there's about a 5% chance that I will have decided to give them all haircuts prior to the bath!
It also takes me a lot longer to give the kids a bath :P
@GoldenAKMs@SlumRNA_Dog@nc_nma My kid thought throwing water balloons at people was a good way to communicate his desire not to be involved in a water balloon fight.
He did it again today and I only noticed because he was saying “don’t take it, don’t take it”
I’m glad he’s internalizing the concept that the opponent can take his pieces 😅
@ThymeToBeBorn She came back to find that her teenage boys had cleaned up all the blood and glass and dealt with the raccoon with a bow-and-arrow <3
@ThymeToBeBorn My friend had to take her 8yo to the ER because he banged on the glass door trying to scare away a raccoon, went straight through the glass and sliced both arms.
@alexpotato@VicVijayakumar My mom once showed me how her right arm was significantly more muscular than her left. (She's left-handed so the right arm was the toddler-toting arm.)
So now I'm trying to retrain myself to "pester" my 6yo more. So far I'm finding it to be an especially helpful tool when he's feeling bored (aka lonely?) — a big squeeze or a little bit of wrestling goes a long way!
I think my 6yo's love language is "annoying physical touch." (He's similar to my little sister in this regard.)
If I want to connect with him I can just reach out and poke him or try to tickle him or push him around — and he likes it!
This is very different from his big brother, who has always had a very low tolerance for uninitiated physical contact.
I'm realizing that the 9yo's preferences have shaped how I relate with his little brother.
@GreatLakesWife_ Yes I’m a perfectionist but I’m also objectively falling short in some pretty significant ways due to sin — so acknowledge my confession and support me in seeking change! Don’t just dismiss it!
@GreatLakesWife_ Yes! I’ve noticed a pattern where I’ll get convicted about something at Bible study but when I share with the group, someone is always quick to jump in and say, “oh don’t worry about that, you are doing so much already.”
@mishapathy Sounds like fun, I’m in!
Reminds me of picture telephone, where you write a sentence, the next person around the table illustrates your sentence with a picture and folds the paper so only their picture is visible, the next person has to write a sentence, and so on.
