@phiweger @nanopore This was LSK109 and we only got 14Mb. We isolated ~2ug DNA (Qubit) and had good ratios by nanoquant. The low yield could be due to inefficient library prep (if there is a contaminant) or something as simple as misloading the sample into Flongle . Not sure but hoping to find out!

First test of marine #eDNA extraction from a filter. Sample to DNA in 20 min. DNA run on a @nanopore Flongle. WIMP giving us a glimpse of some of the microbes that might be in the sample. Fun proof of concept!

@satriaphd @nanopore It wasn't a great run and generated only 14 Mb. I'm not sure if it was the Flongle or our sample, so I'm hoping to get it on a MinION, which usually gives us better results. That being said we were happy that we could got a lot of hits to marine species!

@jjminich @OmicsOmicsBlog @nanopore Extraction can help remove environmental inhibitors, clean up the DNA and improve recovery of DNA from intact microbes and cells. For some samples you may not need extraction but I don't know if this is typically the case. We've had several researchers ask about eDNA extraction.
