Home to profound stories of Miners and their families, the communities that were shaped by the coal dust, and the resources that helped build a nation.
๐ Thatโs a Wrap, Folks! ๐
The Cape Breton Miners Museum is officially closed for the season!
We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to every single guest who visited us this year.
๐ Meet Our New Summer Student, Cameron! ๐
Cameron is joining us for his first summer at the Cape Breton Miners Museum. He recently graduated from high school and will be starting nursing studies at Cape Breton University.
Cameron is preparing for a career helping people, which is perfect training for answering all the important museum questions... like โwhereโs the bathroom?โ ๐
Welcome to the team, Cameron. Weโre glad to have you with us this summer.
๐ Meet Our Summer Students! Kiki - (5th Year)๐
Kiki is back for her fifth summer at the Cape Breton Miners Museum! She has completed her Social Services Diploma, is finishing her Youth Care program, and plans to become a Child and Youth Care Practitioner.
When sheโs not at the museum, youโll likely find her on the softball field, soaking up the sun, or enjoying her favourite ice cream flavour: Moon Mist!
One thing we've learned after five summers: never mention treats unless you're prepared to share. ๐
Your summer plans called. They said they need a little more Cape Breton music. ๐ถ
The Men of the Deeps return Wednesday, July 22nd, 2026 for an evening filled with songs, stories, and mining heritage.
Warning: side effects may include toe tapping, humming on the drive home, and telling everyone you know about the show. ๐

๐ฌ Lights, camera... museum!
Every year, we receive emails from production companies asking if they can film at the Cape Breton Miners Museum. Some projects make it to screens across Canada, while others remain a hidden gem known only here on the island.
We've put together a list of just a few of the productions filmed at the museum over the years... although we're pretty sure we missed a few. Okay, maybe more than a few. ๐
Now it's your turn!
โ๏ธ Weekly Relic: Model Draegerman by Ernie Fauvelle
When news of a mining accident reached the surface, Draegermen answered the call without hesitation.
We also extend a heartfelt thank you to the retired miners who continue to share their knowledge and experiences with our visitors every day: George Muise, Jerry McNeil, Leo Gracie, Stevie Slade, and Sheldon Guthro.
