Interesting @C_Somos was told by CANSEC organizers there was no room for her. Our reporter got accredited in a few minutes without prior registration. Somos has written articles questioning the military. So has other barred outlets, @Ricochet@readthemaple@TheBreachMedia
The Canadian Forces/DND are strategic partners for CANSEC. Defence Minister McGuinty did not comment on why certain journalists were not allowed to hear him speak.
Protesters out in force to demonstrate against CANSEC arms show. I asked McGuinty's office for his comments about the barring of journalists who might write critical pieces about his speech/ the govt defence policy. He isn't commenting.

Canada is planning to spend $150 billion per year on the military.
Some of the only journalists permitted to attend events like this where key decisions on military spending are made are the ones who write fawning junk like this.
War spending in Canada is at an all time high. Press freedom and transparency are at historic lows.
Last chance to get tickets for our “Fund Healthcare, Not Warfare” bus tour in Ottawa tomorrow 11am!
I'll be hosting the tour along with @CBrentPatterson, talking about how militarism is harming our public healthcare system.

The Maple has been barred from covering this arms fair and despite multiple follow ups the organizers have refused to provide an explanation.
Are they afraid someone might do journalism?

.@AnitaAnandMP is claiming Canada has applied sanctions and respected international law similarly when comparing Canada’s actions against Israeli settlers and against Russia, as if we don’t have eyes.
The words almost can’t come out because she knows the world sees her hypocrisy and lies.
You’re literally hiding from your constituents and still still arming Israel.
Embarrassing, shameful, racist, and criminal.
I’m glad Al Jazeera is asking these questions because Canadian journalists with access to Anand never would and those of us who try have our questions ignored by comms staffers who have absolute contempt for transparency and truth.
When asked recently what she would do to protect Canadians on board the aid ship in the event of an Israeli attack, Foreign Affairs Anita Anand said "consular support" was available.
