Good thread. High quality captions/subtitles can convey emotional tone and more non-word features yet lacking in many or most captioning - still have fatigue of reading/listening though, background noise etc.
If you're a researcher, go spend time at events like HLAA, ALDA, AMPHL, etc, and try to understand the issues that we face. Simply prescribing technology and procedures are not going to solve our problems when sensorineural hearing loss is not currently curable. 12/
