Over 80% of businesses fail:
Because many of them forget about innovation.
But how can you innovate?
There are 4 key types of innovation:
1. Incremental Innovation
Involves making gradual improvements to existing products, processes, or services.
It focuses on refining and optimizing current practices rather than introducing entirely new concepts.
Example: Gradual improvement of smartphone cameras.
2. Sustaining Innovation
Aims to sustain the position in an existing market by making significant improvements to a product.
It sustains current business models and typically targets high-end customers or increases efficiency and profitability.
Example: Introduction of AI to smartphones.
3. Radical Innovation
Involves significant departures from current practices or technologies, leading to groundbreaking advancements.
It fundamentally transforms industries or economies, creating new markets.
Examples include inventions like the personal computer or the internet.
4. Disruptive Innovation
Involves the introduction of a new product, service, or business model that disrupts the existing market.
This can be a cheaper solution or an entirely new way to address an existing market.
Example: Netflix disrupted the traditional video rental market.
Innovation can be categorized in many different ways.
But the main aspect is always the same:
To survive, you need to innovate.
The more innovation you implement, the better it is for your business.
P.S. Is your business innovating enough?
