ikak fact 3: The floral pattern, specifically called the eight-pointed flowers (called jlamprang in Indonesia), is one of the most famous and widespread patterns. Its design was assimilated into local textiles, which became a prestige symbol for aristocratic families.

Ikat fact 2: Ryukyu Kasuri, a Japanese ikat, has hundreds of different patterns. They are inspired by the flora and fauna, but also the stars, clouds, daily life objects. Other humorous patterns find inspiration from unusual sources like a dog’s footprints or human eyebrows.
