@eatwholegrain BUT it's that kind of thinking that hinders progress. I gotta remind myself that sustainability (similar to veganism for example) is gradual/ a scale, not black and white. And there's ALWAYS room to improve. And Tom inspires me and many on that way ๐
@eatwholegrain tbh when i first read the title I thought the oxymoron was that its is a newsletter in the first place, which obvs has a footprint in itself. Which made me wonder if any digital product can be sustainable in the same sense as a natural ecosystem would be considered sustainable๐ค
@ConKennedy tbh i had all my students try this out because it's so hard to teach the pen tool, but this actually confused them more than necessary. It's quite hard as it demands shortcuts unnecessary to master the tool efficiently. ๐คท
Incredible new Newsletter by @eatwholegrain Tom Greenwood, one of the - and my favourite - leader(s) in Sustainable Digital and Business research and practice: https://t.co/hjo2nYVULq
Folks, can we be clear: if the chances of 1.5C are looking lower and lower, the next goal is 1.500000001, not 2C
It's been astonishing to see the casual, chilled-out half-degree step in Aus interviews on IPCC the past few days, as if it's no big deal

very cool: a #braille display that can also emulate shapes from images, with its individual parts easily replaceable and it can be operated through gestures!
#accessibility, #Sustainability and #clevertech combined ๐

@lucderuijter in my own teaching, i do whatever i can to encourage my students to question whatever they learn, that includes what you call "communication theory". Any good lecturer will encourage critical thinking on the learned theories, especially on university level
@lucderuijter excellent questions! I believe, what 'good' is, every person needs to define for themselves. Most unethical behaviour occurs when workers don't know their own values or how to stand in for them. We need to enable people to define their own value system
"We track if we are driving use, but not if we are driving value."

@_brendamalone @pollyplummer every email stored uses up energy on a server. By keeping these emails you are destroying our planet. Please delete and unsubscribe!
@pollyplummer PLEASE get rid of these! Every email stored uses up energy, constantly. Just because you can't see it, doesn't lessen it's negative environment impact.
Want to know how to calculate digital emissions?
Here's a wonderful post that @timfrick, @eatwholegrain, @RymBaouendi, and I came up with

@gerrymcgovern i don't believe there is such a thing as waste in the material world, just wastefulness, or misuse of resources.
In the digital world however, yes, there is waste, and it increases exponentially, while noone is watching.
