Coastal Conservation Foundation (CCF) is a marine conservation organisation based in Mumbai. You can follow our projects at @MLOMumbai and @MarineLifeofGoa.
Second Olive Ridley turtle trying to nest at Juhu beach chased away by people this month. We know of at least 3 such cases from just this month.
It's time to stop treating these as freak instances and maybe think of our beaches as turtle nesting sites!

We had a great time over the past eight days hosting the Primer to Conservation Bioacoustics workshop at @IiserTirupati. With a set of 24 enthusiastic participants pan-India and their exciting projects and ideas; we look forward to more in the future!
A lesser known aspect of our work at @CCFIndia_. Since 2016, as the monsoon sets in, we work with @MahaForest and @MangroveForest to manage, rescue and release sea turtles and cetaceans that wash ashore in Mumbai.
Thank you, @sabahvir for covering it.

With monsoon, it's inevitable that marine mammals - dolphins, turtles, whales - will land up on #Mumbai's shores, likely dead, injured or ill. The city’s stranding network has been preparing for this, to help out the injured and glean info from the dead:

This #WorldEnvironmentDay I'd like to share two very big milestones @MLOMumbai crossed a few days ago.
Our marine biodiversity database has 10,886 observations of 602 species from the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
A 🧵 on what this means and why it's important.
A humpback dolphin at the @mybmcCoastalRd construction site in Worli. While it's easy to call this resilience, it shows just how invisible the city's marine life and the sea have been in policy making & environmental discussions.
Cetaceans of the Back Bay | @ccfindia_, 2022.
Super excited to see our work being covered in @guardian in the UK and @Corriere in Italy.
We're grateful to @KalpanaSunder and @MartaLatini for writing about us and to @sarangnk90 for sharing his magnificent photographs.

As part of our Confluence exhibit, we attempt to bring the shore to you, virtually. Zoom in, move around and click on animals to know more about them.
Created as part of the Confluence exhibition by Mumbai Water Narratives & @MuseumWaters.

The well-being of marine spaces comes with an aspect that relatively few of us engage with - the coastal communities.
We talk to Ishaan Khot, Rahul Muralidharan, Shiba Desor and Shweta Wagh who have engaged in different ways with coastal communities.
