I don't think this community realizes just how close Tier 2 NA esports is to collapse rn
I don't think y'all realize how much this community is to blame for that
SO much money yeeted out of this space by community overreactions, can not wait for karma to strike some more
Multiple splits of $0 rev share. no real sponsor money. investors pulling out consistently.
The only thing left is dudes willing to pay out of pocket for their passion. Run out of those dudes? It's over.
And trust me, the players are caring much more about their pay these days
Tier 2/3 and collegiate esports scene could care less about what orgs and staff help grow the scene. Seems the only concern is who makes them feel better about themselves and who virtue signals better! 🦀🦀 in a 🪣
@CCGEsport will continue to support our staff and players!
Glad to have another with us in the handful... looking forward to another org that isn't going to over promise and rip opportunities from committed players!
@Cubbyxx Traditional sports recruiting can involve telling players to lose weight, gain muscle, get tougher, and is expressed in far harsher ways than anything said above. This could be why the strongest programs in collegiate have near zero interest in getting involved in esports.
@Cubbyxx I will admit my lack of knowledge here on this subject... however, when I was recruited for both soccer and football, I was still required to find my method of transportation to the campus visitation. Well over $50, I found a way, since my parents could not. Is that Gatekeeping?
@Cubbyxx I have taken the time here because you are someone that I have respected in this scene from afar, and I'm disappointed to see you are willing to apply blanket opinion on an org or person with limited knowledge of either.
@Cubbyxx To imply gatekeeping is involved at all here is obsurd specially when talking to someone whose org has been at the forefront of taking risks to give people opportunities other orgs would not.
@Cubbyxx What is gained is the hope that esports can one day compete with traditional sports for attention and $ in this space. There is nothing in this conversation that would be considered offensive in any other collegiate environment. Orgs and players need to become more resilient.
@Cubbyxx Our GM has helped countless people in this scene and has donated far more time than anyone outside of CCG and WU would realize. To suggest we lack empathy because we will stand up for those that have helped this scene and that we believe in is baffling!
@SlayerCasts Imagine the positions these players may have turned down to play for the big money they were offered by this org.... drastic affect on their career path..hopefully more players start seeing the value of consistency vs empty promises.
@ChefBilly__@ubershouts@clerkie@CCGEsport The 2024 Event was even bigger and @Shelodin_SW actually gave a great college intro to over 100 of our students and their parents. He also sat with each head coach individually reviewing ways they could help their students reach collegiate. Donated his time and expertise!
Disgusted by the way this is being handled @Shelodin_SW has helped countless players in the ProAm and collegiate space reach beyond their potential! Collegiate is a competitive environment and only going to getting more competitive! Time to toughen up or maybe comp isn't for you!
@BCollamer Orgs that convince players to shred a contract after the player receives the benefits of that contract is wild. The saddest part is it is going to take a player punished for this before they will stop letting orgs manipulate them.
@pogchew@Seanatonin_@Airren01 @myra__davis @CCGEsport Interesting take, wonder how many directors would feel this way if they had to pay their players out of their own pocket to support them instead of using collegiate budget and boosters. GMs may be able to fuck off but if the owners do I don't think you'd like the result.
