Last night was my first visit to Monterey High School for a regional win-or-go-home matchup between Cannon County and Bledsoe, and from the moment you stepped through the doors, it felt like one of those nights where the stakes were heavy, and the energy in the building never stopped buzzing. The gym was packed with playoff intensity as both teams understood that someone’s season was about to end.
Right from the opening tip, @lionsmbb came out firing, pushing the tempo and setting the tone early as they grabbed a 19-14 lead after the first quarter. But Bledsoe had no plans of fading quietly. They answered with a run of their own, and what followed was a gritty back-and-forth battle where both teams traded momentum, big shots, and key defensive stops as the tension in the gym kept rising.
In the middle of that storm was the Prodigy, Miles Alexander(@MilesA_2028), who once again showed why he is one of the most dynamic players on the floor every time he suits up. Miles had a monster performance, exploding for 29 points while raining in shots from deep at a blistering 40 percent clip. His impact stretched far beyond scoring as he added 6 assists, 4 rebounds, and 2 steals while controlling the rhythm of the game. One possession, he attacked the lane with confidence; the next, he set up a teammate with a perfectly timed pass while competing with relentless energy on the defensive end.
When the moment tightened, Lukas Phillips(@LukasPhillips24) stepped up right alongside him. Lukas had 20 points while bringing a physical presence on the boards and making timely buckets when Cannon needed them most. The duo fed off each other’s energy and combined for nearly two-thirds of Cannon County’s offense, giving their team the firepower needed as the battle grew fiercer.
Bledsoe refused to go away and forced Cannon County to earn every inch down the stretch. But when the pressure shifted to the free-throw line late, Cannon stayed composed and finished the job.
By the final horn, Cannon County secured a hard-fought 74- 65 victory. And on a night where adversity and postseason pressure filled the gym, the message on their shirts proved true. They found a way.
