In chapter two, James gives examples of what we should and should not do.

✝️Verses 1-8: faith & partiality, like oil & water, do not mix

✝️Verses 9-13: through the law of liberty mercy triumphs over judgment

✝️Verses 14-26: it isn't faith OR works, but faith AND works

James has been speaking about the practical side of our sanctification—the things we do and say. In the Bible, our sanctification is seen in 3 ways.
1. Positional - believe in Jesus.
2. Practical - become doers of His Word.
3. Ultimate - at the resurrection into heaven.

The epistle of James is believed to have been written between A.D. 45-48, before the Jerusalem Council of Acts 15. It is a didactic or instructional epistle, where we find at least 54 commands as to how we ought to be or become “Doers of the Word.”
