This photo of me as a very youthful private solider was taken 40 years ago today on Ex Lionheart. I know that because it was the day after my 19th birthday! The Charlie G in the foreground was a special birthday gift for the platoon SPROG π¬π
Itβs always a privilege to attend a Commissioning Course Parade at @RMASandhurst. Todayβs was made even more special when the Sword for Best Cadet went to a Royal Engineer from the Royal Monmouthshire Royal Engineers π @RMonREM@Proud_Sappers
Delighted to have been invited to watch @135GeoSqnRE exercise the Freedom of Ewell to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Squadronβs formation. Coming away with a commemorative coin was an unexpected bonus π @42EngrRegt_Geo@Proud_Sappers

The Corps Col RE, Col Dickie Hawkins ADC MBE also took the opportunity to present the Corps Sergeant Major, WO1 (CSM) Spencer Eardley with his well deserved MSM - fittingly at the site of the RE and Canadian Sapper Memorial at Driel
@MungoMelvin@TheUCS473 I was a very young private soldier in 5 Queens during Lionheart. To deploy 31,000 reservists in support of this exercise was a fantastic achievement. This was back in the day when the TA was 70,000 strong and the Warsaw Pact was 1,000 miles closer.
The Royal Engineers Reserve Conference was held at Chatham last weekend. Nearly 100 people from across the Corps (Regular and Reserve) attended, including Director Reserves. As an added bonus attendees spent over Β£1k in the Sapper Shop!
