The ousted head of Türkiye's main opposition party on Tuesday urged lawmakers to resist what he called a bid to eliminate it, while its court-appointed new leader pledged at a rival meeting to "cleanse the party of dirt.”

Hmm…I thought @CanadianPM stood for rule of law:
The trade ministers of Türkiye and Canada have agreed to launch exploratory discussions aimed at concluding a free trade agreement.

@KoroushRp20645@matthew_petti Didn't see this before. You'd have more fun if you learned to say L'Chaim and love all Iranians, all of its peoples (including Jews, Kurds, Balochs, Arabs) and all the peoples of world rather than hate hate hate.
@KoroushRp20645@matthew_petti Despite fear of "balkanization" the only DEMOCRATIC country with federalism that separated into independent states was Czechoslovakia- which was a one party dictatorship for 50 years and a democracy for about 3. Federalism can prevent separatism.
@KoroushRp20645@matthew_petti The Democratic Party supports Puerto Rican Statehood or full autonomy even though language of government/society will be different there and even parties different there than rest of country. Outside of PR those against it are often partisan or even racist.
@KoroushRp20645@matthew_petti Utah was maj. Mormon until recently and has only had 3 non-LDS governors, the last one in the 1950s. New Mexico was majority Hispano (not even Hispanic, descendants of the Spanish) for probably the first 50-60 years. Wisconsin is like 40% German. Nobody cares.
@KoroushRp20645@matthew_petti Also, I used ethnic designations as short-hand its very possible you have something like the "Bloc of Minorities" in Poland of Iranians of many stripes who want a federal system and an inclusive/democratic state. Why should governors be appointed from Tehran rather than locally?
@firagawalkwthme@johnholowach This is the advantage of RCV. Multiple flavors of Mods/Progressives/Monarchists/Republicans (i'm being satirical with the monarchists/republicans) can run without diluting their vote and you don't have plurality victories that might not be representative of the voting majority!
@firagawalkwthme@johnholowach Yes, but for obv reasons (you can still keep running, you can still hope for an electoral miracle) RCV makes easier not just for candidates but for orgs. Orgs can dual endorse some1 their ideological lane without feeling like they are alienating a particular person.
