You’re having a bad day, you’re not happy with the umpires calls, your body doesn’t feel 💯, you made an error, you walked the batter, you gave up a long ball, you’re not happy with your coaches decisions, you got jammed and your hands hurt, blah blah blah.
One of the best parts of this game is it doesn’t care about all that. It’s not going to wait for you to stop feeling sorry for yourself. It’s not going to wait for you to calm down and be tougher. Your opponents couldn’t care less how you feel. They are waiting for you to slip so they can pounce.
Many players beat themselves for reasons like this. Often it’s not the fact that their opponents are better than them but that they aren’t there yet mentally.

“Who in the hell is Mel Kiper anyway? My knowledge of him: He’s never ever put on a jock strap, he’s never been a coach, or administrator and all of a sudden he’s an expert.
Kiper has no more credentials than my neighbor, who is a postman that doesn’t have season tickets to the #NFL ” - Bill Tobin responds to Mel Kiper
