The goal of this demo is to show students how to breakdown complex designs into very simple shapes and proportions, so they can be easily remembered and posed efficiently for figure Invention.

This is a great course designed for budding character designers, storyboard revisionists, animators, and illustrators to help expand their ability to adapt and work on various styles of animated shows.
.
The course is recorded weekly, so it is easy to catch up for late enrollment students.

This long pose course continues where the Analytical Figure Drawing class left off. It focuses on creating a complete image capturing the personality of the model with the composition of the page with lighting. The topics of value, lighting, edge, composition, detail breakdown of the facial likeness and planes of the body will be discussed throughout the demos.

A great class for character designers and for artists making the transition from drawing into painting. Pose length ranges from 20 min - 3 hours each. Analytical Figure Drawing experience recommended.

Here are some of the week 1 in class demos by Kevin Chen for his "Intro to Character Design" online course co-taught with Joshua James Shaw @JtheJames~!!

For the first few weeks, the class is doing a warm up assignment to learn how to explore shapes for visual storytelling and learn how to create an interesting character cast with build in tension and appeal.

This is a great introductory class for both budding character designer students and intermediate artists alike who want to sharpen up their skills in creating memorable characters and unique art directions.
