A doctor with the International Rescue Committee just compared the current Congo Ebola outbreak to the 2014 Ebola crisis.

The one that killed more than 11,000 people across 10 countries.

Then he said something even more alarming:

This outbreak could be worse.

His exact point was that they're actively preparing for a scenario that surpasses the deadliest Ebola outbreak of the modern era.

The warning comes after Trump pulled the United States out of the World Health Organization, one of the primary international networks used to coordinate outbreak surveillance and response.

So while health officials are preparing for a potential Ebola crisis...

America has stepped away from one of the world's largest public-health early warning systems.

That's not exactly reassuring.
