Hall of Famer Steve Rogers was born on October 26, 1949.

Hall of Famer Pedro Martinez was born on October 25, 1971.
It was his 1997 season that was one for the ages. In the midst of the steroid era, when offensive numbers were exploding, Martinez posted a 17-8 record and led the league with a 1.90 ERA. He also topped NL pitchers in complete games (13) and WAR (9.0) and his 305 strikeouts set a single-season franchise record. As a result, he became the first and only Expos pitcher to win the National League Cy Young Award.
Hall of Famer Phil Marchildon was born on October 25, 1913 in Penetanguishene, Ontario. In all, Marchildon won 68 big league games and completed 82 of his 162 major league starts.
Hall of Famer Jack Kent Cooke was born on October 25, 1912 in Hamilton, Ontario.
Under his flamboyant reign, the club drew more than 3.3 million fans to Maple Leaf Stadium from 1951 to 1963. Creative and sometimes off-the-wall, Cooke’s promotions made attending a game in Toronto an event.
#OTD 53 years ago, the Cubs traded Fergie Jenkins (Chatham, Ont.) to the Rangers for Bill Madlock and Vic Harris.

#OnThisDay in baseball history, the Canadian Senior National Team, managed by Ernie Whitt (Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame Class of 2009) took home gold at the 2011 Pan Am Games held in Guadalajara, Mexico.
The gold medal final was a pitcher’s duel, as Canada’s Andrew Albers held the American team to only one run in the first. Scott Richmond came in to secure the save as the Canadians defeated the US 2-1. It was Canada’s first gold at the Men’s Senior level.
The international champs were inducted into the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame & Museum the following year.

#OnThisDay one year ago, Addison Barger hit the first pinch hit grand slam in the history of the World Series!
In the bottom of the 6th inning of Game 1, Barger replaced Davis Schneider at the plate, facing Anthony Banda with the bases loaded. Barger rocked a ball to centerfield, recording not only the first Grand Slam in Toronto World Series history, but the first pinch hit grand slam in all of World Series history.
This bat, which is currently on display at the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame & Museum was used by Barger in Game 5 when he broke it on a single into right field off Blake Snell.

#OTD 54 years ago, Jackie Robinson died at age 53.
“I owe more to Canadians than they’ll ever know,” Robinson said about his time in Montreal. “In my baseball career they were the first to make me feel my natural self.”
We owe you, Jackie.
And thank you.
#OnThisDay in 1992, the @BlueJays won their first World Series championship!
In the 6th game of the series against Atlanta, the Jays entered the bottom of the 9th up one over the Braves, but gave up an RBI single to Otis Nixon. In extra innings, the Jays scored 2 on a double from Dave Winfield, and held the Braves to 1 in the bottom of the 11th thanks to a game saving out from Mike Timlin to Joe Carter at 1st base.
The Blue Jays made history with the win as the first team outside of the USA to take home the championship 🏆
Where were you when the Blue Jays won it all in 1992?

Best of luck to all of the Canadians who are participating in the World Series, from behind the scenes to on the field. We wanted to especially say good luck to Liam Hicks, catcher for Tampa Bay! As the lone Canadian on the active rosters, we hope you have a great series, Liam!
This cap, worn during Liam Hicks' MLB debut on March 28, 2025, is currently on display at the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame & Museum.
