When we say Clean Up Britain is a non-party political campaign, we mean it. This sort of disgraceful + embarrassing sight on the A2 road, just above Dover, should worry and shame us all.
Can you imagine what international visitors think of us? @JuLlewellyn
Andy Burnham is now taking a few questions, albeit in highly controlled circumstances. He’s coming across as a bit Forrest Gump: well-meaning, naïve, uninformed.
So let’s get real. Here’s a proper question about a huge issue.
There are almost 11m people of working age in the UK who are economically inactive.
Yet Skills England reports that construction is short of 1m workers to meet the current infrastructure and housing targets — and that’s before you include Mr Burnham’s plans for a massive council house building programme.
It’s a clear sign of a labour market — skills shortage AND huge inactive labour pool — not functioning properly.
It needs to be put right before we have any chance of decent growth.
So, Mr Burnham, what would you do to put it right?
14 years of failure @Nigel_Farage?
We made mistakes, particularly on immigration rules post-Brexit, but also lots of good stuff:

- Passed the Rwanda legislation in 2023 (Labour scrapped it)
Crime:
- Violent/street crime is down 50% since 2010
Business & the Economy:
- 4.2 more people in work
- 1.2m fewer unemployed

Welfare:

- 881k fewer workless households
I could go on…..
Shabir Ahmed was convicted for 30 counts of child rape.
The idea that he could soon be walking the streets of Rochdale again is abhorrent.
If the law doesn't allow us to deport people like this, then the law is clearly wrong. The Government must change it.
Conservatives will always stand with the people who protect us.
That’s why we will give our brave reservists 30 days of tax-free service, recognising their sacrifice and helping secure the vital capabilities our country needs.
We will pay for this by making the tough choices Labour won’t - cutting the welfare bill so we can rebuild our military strength.
Only the Conservatives have the backbone to put national security first, back our Armed Forces, and build a stronger country.
So defending the nation is not a public service? This is the sort of Marxist drivel we’d hear from commie fellow-travellers/Kremlin apologists throughout the Cold War. It was designed to undermine us.
The broad Conservative recovery continues - with increasing effectiveness against the Liberal Democrats for the first time in a long time. But some positive momentum in other contests too.
A shop owner in my constituency was ignored by the police when he reported shoplifting.
But when he displayed pictures of the thieves, the police showed up - to tell him that those pictures violated GDPR.
Madness. A free run for criminals, while normal people get crushed.
The @Conservatives are blessed with some remarkable talent right now.
@KemiBadenoch is showing genuine Prime Ministerial calibre and is slowly transforming the Tory Party after years of drift and decline. She will become one of our great Prime Ministers.
@ClaireCoutinho is one of the most electrifying politicians to emerge in recent years. Intelligent, articulate and unafraid to challenge orthodoxy. A future Prime Minister in the making. Deserves a top 3 Shadow Cabinet job today.
@LauraTrottMP is fearless, driven and exceptionally capable. One of the Party’s strongest performers. A brilliant communicator. Ready for promotion.
And then there’s @Katie_Lam_MP. Irrepressible, energetic and a star of the future already shining brightly today. Should be on the front bench in a major role.
These four give me real hope for the future of British politics.

It is pretty funny that the Tories, who don’t give a damn about identity politics, have been led by several women, a man of Indian descent, and now a black woman - whereas Labour who are obsessed with identity politics have entirely been led by white men.
VERY CLEVER!
A Swedish start-up called Corvid Cleaning came up with a clever idea to fight litter using one of nature’s smartest birds. The company built a machine that rewards wild crows with food whenever they deposit cigarette butts into it. The birds quickly learned the system, and littering has been reduced as much as 75%.
Kemi’s youthquake
43% or 18-24 year olds think Kemi would be a good PM, compared to just 6% who back Farage in a head to head.
In fact Kemi has nearly double the support of every age group, 36% among 25-49 yos, 37% among 50-64 and 40% among over-65s.

Last night we voted against Ed Miliband’s new Net Zero target.
Why? Watch this.
Not a single Labour MP could say what it will mean for the cost of food or energy for our constituents - or for British jobs and industry.
They’re going to spend hundreds of billions of pounds of YOUR money and they didn’t even seem to care what it will mean for you.
Parliament should be better than this.
Thanks to the Government's new sentencing rules, 12,000 of the country's most prolific shoplifters could avoid jail.
But while criminals run rampant, ordinary people get crushed with more rules and more restrictions.
Rewarding the law-breakers while punishing the law-abiding.
