@ClarkeMicah I can’t argue that - I have to point you, however, to the ever more widespread areas that police seem to now be responsible for. It’s a near miracle there are any out at all, let alone this utopia of Dixon of Dock Green you allude to.
@ClarkeMicah The population of the UK was 54.6 million in 1966 (between 80 and 90,000 police) and is at 69 million now (144,000). Way too few do a per capita.
And as for the *prevent* element - couldn’t agree more, so, how?
@ClarkeMicah 1995 London - 7.03 million.
2026 London - 9.9 million
Increase in population : 2.87 million
Increase in police ; 6,000.
The current ratio is 1 cop to every 300 people
That took me less than 60 seconds.
And spoiler alert : they’re cutting numbers.
@Jebadoo2 There are many reasons why the backlog exists, I could point to
an easy win;
At the moment, courts “run” 10(ish) to 4(ish) with an hour for lunch.
Start at 9, finish at 6, instant 15 hours extra court business a week!
It’s so easy….
