The hook
Now it's 2026 — and Canada hosts matches in Vancouver 🏔️ and Toronto 🌆.
Home crowd. World-class pace. A generation of players who grew up hungry.
🍁 Les Rouges aren't here to make up the numbers.
They're here to make history.

The dark ages
🍁 CANADA — A nation that waited 36 years to return to the World Cup.
Their 1986 debut? Three games. Zero goals. One very cold flight home.
But what happened next in 2022 changed everything. 👇
The renaissance
Fast forward to 2022 qualifying. Jonathan David. Alphonso Davies. Tajon Buchanan.
Suddenly Canada wasn't just "the hockey country" — they were topping CONCACAF standings ahead of the USA and Mexico for most of qualifying. 🤯
No, you didn't misread that.

The Iceteca
November 2021. Edmonton. -17°C.
Canada vs Mexico at Commonwealth Stadium — and Canadian fans are literally DIVING into snowbanks in the stands to celebrate.
Mexico lost. The internet went insane. The "Iceteca" was born. ❄️🔥
The low point
But let's not forget the bottom.
2012. World Cup qualifying. Canada 0 – Honduras 8.
Eight. Goals. Eight.
Sometimes you need to hit absolute rock bottom before you can build something great. Canada used that humiliation as fuel. 💪

The world cup is here!!! 48 teams. 1 World Cup. Infinite chaos... The series continue
Team #2- The USA: The Stars & Stripes Saga: From Soccer’s Greatest Shock to the Lost Decades.
Long before modern media declared soccer a "growing sport" in America, the United States was busy setting records at the very first World Cup in Uruguay.
They didn't just participate; they arrived with a squad full of rugged, highly physical players—many of them British immigrants who had settled in the thriving soccer leagues of New England and St. Louis.
The Unbelievable Start: On July 13, 1930, playing simultaneously with Mexico's opening match, the USA walked onto the pitch against Belgium. They shocked the world by cruising to a dominant 3–0 victory.
The First-Ever Hat-Trick: Four days later, they faced Paraguay. American forward Bert Patenaude etched his name into eternity by scoring all three goals in a 3–0 win. For decades, historical record books debated it, but FIFA officially recognizes Patenaude's performance as the first hat-trick in World Cup history.
The Semi-Final Slaughter: The fairy tale crashed into a brick wall in the semi-finals against Argentina. Amidst a fiercely hostile crowd and brutal physical challenges, the USA collapsed in the second half, losing 6–1.
Despite the heavy exit, the USA technically finished 3rd place in 1930—a milestone achievement that remains their highest World Cup finish to this very day.
The Comedy & The Chaos-
American soccer lore is packed with wild, unfiltered stories of part-time athletes hitting the jackpot and bizarre typographical errors.
The Dishwasher & The Typo (1950): In 1950, the USA fielded a ragtag team of part-timers, including Joe Gaetjens, a Haitian immigrant working as a dishwasher in New York, and a hearse driver. They pulled off soccer’s greatest miracle by beating an all-star England team 1–0. The story goes that when the scoreline was telexed back to London, British newspaper editors assumed "USA 1, England 0" was a typo. Convinced England must have won, several papers erroneously printed that England won 10–1!
The Secret Shotgun Wedding Curse (1930): During the chaotic 1930 semi-final against Argentina, the American team trainer, Jack Coll, ran onto the pitch to treat an injured player. In his frantic hurry, he dropped his medical bag, breaking a bottle of chloroform. The fumes knocked the trainer unconscious on the field, and he had to be carried off by the very players he was trying to treat.
The Secretary of Defense (2014): In the 2014 Round of 16 against Belgium, US goalkeeper Tim Howard put on a display of supernatural athleticism. He made 16 saves in a single match—the most ever recorded in a World Cup game since stats were tracked. The performance was so legendary that fans temporarily hacked Wikipedia to change the official US Secretary of Defense to "Tim Howard," prompting a real-life commendation call from the White House.
Now, the circle is complete. On June 11, Mexico’s Estadio Azteca becomes the first stadium in human history to host an opening match for a third time.
The pressure is monumental. The fans are ready to shake the earth again. Will El Tri finally slay the ghost of the Fifth Game on home soil, or will the curse claim another generation?

You cannot talk about Mexico without the absolute madness that follows them. Their World Cup history is littered with events that belong in a sitcom.
The Forklift Incident (1994): In a high-stakes group match against Bulgaria at Giants Stadium, Mexican defender Marcelino Bernal tracked back to clear a ball. He lunged into the back of his own net with so much momentum that he literally snapped the metal support stanchion. The goalpost collapsed. The match had to be halted for over 15 minutes while stadium workers frantically drove a forklift onto the pitch to replace the entire goal structure.
The Curse of the Witch Doctor (1994): Ahead of the tournament, the Mexican federation reportedly grew so desperate to break their bad luck that they quietly consulted a famous local spiritual healer to cast protective spells over the team. The spell apparently missed the penalty spot, as Mexico missed three consecutive penalties against Bulgaria to go out.
The Earthshaking Fans (2018): When Hirving "Chucky" Lozano scored the winning goal against Germany in Moscow in 2018, the celebration back home in Mexico City was so massive and synchronized that geological sensors detected a genuine artificial earthquake in the city. The fans literally shook the planet.
