@SpaceSciSteph "Overheard" podcast by NatGeo is great. All interviewees are engaged in STEM, but not all are academic researchers (like a camera engineer, for example). Sometimes the website also has photos.
@girlandkat It's not just "beyond the sci community." I emphasize that outreach audiences are anyone who does't share your exact speciality area of expertise. Physicists & dentists are both expert sci community members, but they would probably struggle to understand each other's jargon.
@sam_aye_ahm This Is How You Lose the Time War by Amal El-Mohtar and Max Gladstone. So good. It is a short book, but the back-and-forth chapters between the two narrators made it feel like a real-time conversation.
“I don’t think people get that once you become sick enough to be hospitalized with COVID, the medications and treatments that we have are, quite frankly, not very good.”

@alexisjreports Wellington, NZ 1st night in cheapest mixed-gender hostel dorm, stranger male roommate surprised to discover new girl (me) locked door @ 7pm (jet lag). He went out back, somehow climbed up & came in through 2nd floor window, ONTO MY BED. Harmless but scared the crap out of me.
@theyokohamalife @NomadDragon7 What if we scheduled 1st appointment without a voucher, now have a voucher & are counting down the hours until the appointment, but don't live in the same ward as the clinic? Any news on ward-based restrictions?
Reassuring info if you're still waiting for any vaccine or are in-between doses. Watch the video for great analogies and expand the thread for info sources. "...an immune cell doesn't read brand names." 👍👩🔬 #scicomm#GetVaxxed
Here’s why many vaccine experts, including the folks at NACI, say the Pfizer and Moderna mRNA vaccines can be used interchangeably if needed to accelerate second doses ⤵️ #VHCdose2#ThisIsOurShotCA
@motokokaku Unrelated, my grandma called hot dogs & baked beans "the honeymoon feast" because they went camping on their honeymoon & that's what they had.
@motokokaku I have never heard anyone sing about hot dogs, but they're standard at baseball games... Japan & the US both love baseball? Children love singing? ...no idea.
@JapanIntercult@ItsJamesRG Europe has the same death correlation misinformation.

A Korean med journal published an explanation of the same false narrative surrounding flu vax last winter.

@LizNeeley Not the most up-tempo, but I think they have the right spirit:
Bloody Mother Fucking Asshole - Martha Wainwright
Around Here - Thelma Plum
You Shit Me To Tears - The Tenants
This brought to you by the simultaneous tears-of-joy excitement & blind-with-rage frustration induced by news that the empty mass vax centers will start giving shots to non-elderly, non-essential people somehow in possession of a Golden Ticket (接種券番号)

It took me 20min to find, so for anyone else who struggles with knowing what Japanese keywords to use in Google, here's a list of #COVID19 mass vaccination centers around #Japan, the Corona Vaccine Navi コロナワクチンナビ
