@stevemagness I dont think run clubs are becoming more popular. Granted hyrox may be but as a sports massage therapist I see more and more people leaving their run clubs and running alone as it fits into their life better.
@stevemagness Yes someone i know who is 43 is trying to target doing well at 800 by just running 10 miles per week. Good luck with that. No strength and far too old.
@Alan_Couzens@inaki_delaparra I'm looking forward to this @Alan_Couzens. It was listening to the whole max weight/low rep noise which got me injured with glute pain. I find for me as a distance runner bands, lighter weights and more reps works best and keep strength to multiple muscle groups at a time.
@Michael_Easter@Brady_H@Alan_Couzens@feelthebyrn1 1. A casio watch.
2. A notebook to record your training and how you felt, duration, weather.
3. Not gear but training buddies who won't moan when you change the route or decide to do more/less.
@hjluks I've just reintroduced strength training. I'm still running through it but have had to reduce mileage significantly. However heavy weights seem to cause more pain so I'm back to lighter weights and regular massage.
You dont need a running club, a running track. You just need determination and someone who will always help you when things aren't going to plan. Thank you to @j_ashworth656 for his continued guidance and support. It can get lonely when niggles come along.
@LydiardsWay This podcast is amazing. Since wearing more cushioned running shoes I've developed knee issues, hip pain and lower back pain. I am definitely doing to make strength a big component of my training this year and moving back to a shoe with no more than a 6mm heel drop.
