It is great to see a new federal red tape reduction strategy which includes several long-standing CFIB recommendations.
The new requirement for regulators to reduce regulatory burden costs by $2 for every $1 added is a significant step forward.

Great conversation today with Minister Jen Gehmair and her team about cutting red tape for small businesses in Yukon.
Thanks for making the time. We're looking forward to working together! #SmallBusiness
This Federal budget, CFIB is asking the government to reduce the all-time-high costs of doing business in Canada as a small firm with these four recommendations.
Strengthening these businesses, including CFIB members, will secure Canada’s economy in the face of uncertainty.

We look forward to continuing the conversation! #SmallBusiness
When public construction runs long, small businesses pay the price. In Conception Bay South, the Seal Cove Road Bridge closed May 4 for what the Town said would be about four months. Five months later, there’s no reopening date. The owners of Seal Cove Grocery store say sales are down 30% heading into the holiday season.
68% of small businesses say they should be compensated when a public construction project has a major impact on their operations.
CFIB is urging provincial and municipal governments in Newfoundland and Labrador to adopt construction mitigation policies that include:
• Funding to offset costs for affected businesses
• Better planning and communication with business owners
• Clear responsibilities for each order of government
Municipalities need a plan before the next project, not after.
Thank you Parliamentary Secretary @pfragiskatos for meeting with CFIB today to discuss immigration related policies.

Thanks to Industry @ISED_CA Minister @melaniejoly for joining CFIB’s Board of Governors at our fall meeting in Montreal. It was good to catch up on the impact of the trade war on small business in advance of the fall budget.
Thank you to the @SenateCA BANC Committee for the opportunity to appear this morning with my colleague Bradlee Whidden on behalf of @CFIB. We were pleased to speak in support of Bill S-239 and the role it can play in improving accountability and keeping internal trade reform on the national agenda.
Red tape doesn't just cost money. Sometimes it costs meals not served, services delayed, and support that never reaches those who need it most.
In today's @FinancialPost, Alexia Riche and I make the case for extending red tape reduction efforts to Canada's charities and non-profits. https://t.co/qHYyf1j1S7
