I have had to stop talking sports with a lot of my friends in real life because the conversation always becomes about their bets/gambling surrounding the game.
It’s genuinely exhausting.
I think this video alone explains why the CFL is making the rule changes it’s making
If we give them credit for their math and these changes DO increase scoring, it primes the product (for the first time in a hot minute) to meet the next gen fan where they’re at:
Clips.

There probably isn’t hard data on this. But if the sentiment of the next generation of fans is that we don’t care about league or storylines, we just want to see dope plays — then the CFL for the first time is on equal footing to go head to head with the NFL for eyeballs.
Legitimately a serious issue that I assume a decision maker will finally take seriously when it’s 15 years too late and the conversation is STILL “how do we elevate U SPORTS football into the national consciousness in the current climate”
I haven’t seen one thread diagnosing the issue with hockey in Canada that talks about how parents simply don’t want their kids involved in the sport anymore because of the (well earned) bad reputation it now has.
The discourse regarding Canada doing piss poor at the World Juniors being THE signal that hockey is declining in this country is hilarious considering the governing body used player fees to coverup sexual assault lawsuits.
The sport and its infrastructure deserve to be humbled
I think offline clubs are going to be huge in 2026. We’ve seen it rumbling with Book Clubs and Running Clubs.
Would be suuuuuuper neat if the CFL tapped local tourism boards to organize in person watch parties across the country.
@Mack_Dunford50 Me thinks it’s the logical outcome of the internet getting overrun by AI slop and real concerns about if you’re actually interacting with people.
But in my humblest of opinions: good.
I’d much rather go to a photo gallery of someone’s photography than stare at another IG Page
Probably could have interconnected trivia games across the country for engagement where Watch Party A in Sherbrooke is put against Watch Party B in FlinFlon during the games. Make a bracket out of it and crown a CFL City Trivia Champ at Grey Cup or something.
