Toiling a corset.

I have to make sure that the boning channels are measured and cut to size to allow for bagging out cleanly.

A little bit tricky.

The waist detail. The tailoring element mixed with the corset. The shoulder straps. This garment has so many great details.

‘Toile cutting’ time. We don’t actually use toile cutting as a phrase, we don’t really have a term for it...

If it was the final garment I was making we would call it ‘sample cutting’.

Do you think the term ‘toile cutting’ could catch on?

Pre-shrinking fabric is important. Some fabrics can shrink a substantial amount.

I prefer magic tape to masking tape (no affiliation) for pattern cutting because you can see through it when used.

Also, sometimes masking tape can be quite thick and sticky, and if you need to peel it to reposition, the pattern paper may tear.

Asymmetric pattern cutting requires good methodology. Using the CF and CB as referencing points.
