‘Toile cutting’ time. We don’t actually use toile cutting as a phrase, we don’t really have a term for it...
If it was the final garment I was making we would call it ‘sample cutting’.
Do you think the term ‘toile cutting’ could catch on?
I prefer magic tape to masking tape (no affiliation) for pattern cutting because you can see through it when used.
Also, sometimes masking tape can be quite thick and sticky, and if you need to peel it to reposition, the pattern paper may tear.
Imagine if all brands had a modular section to encourage clothes life extension... The designers would be pushed to innovate. Could be very interesting indeed.
