His best is quite clearly Oppenheimer; I think people overthink this. I will say, however, that after Oppenheimer, you could put Dunkirk, Interstellar, Memento, and now (probably) The Odyssey in any order and not have a wrong answer.
I can't breathe the air, I can't eat lettuce, I can't afford gas, and my kids have measles. But at least now our soldiers will have enough testosterone.
@jailedamanda It hardly needs to be said that all of the people trying to invoke Shakespeare here have never read Troilus and Cressida, in which Shakespeare depicts the great heroes of Homer as a bunch of troglodytes, prima donnas, con men, cowards, and manwhores.
interesting to see comments question who is Robert Johnson. he is the man who sold his soul to the devil. he is the first rock star.
he is the first member of the 27 club. elvis. the beatles. chuck berry. hip hop. all are borne out of what Johnson inspired in a few enigmatic live performances and two recording sessions.
there’s a reason why i venerate him on my wall. he is the true goat.
@hell_doe You’re reading it right; you’re supposed to read it carefully and reread as needed! The flow and general feeling that the prose evokes matter much more than the literal meaning, particularly when it’s ruminating on the Rocket and the Zero and the Zone and so on.
@jacobdotgov@rieszspieces Having seen their entire careers and having seen both play in person many times in their prime (my dad had Sonics season tickets), my stance has always been that KG was a more versatile player, but Duncan was so good and so consistent at what he did that they were about equal.
@collectdust This might be less true in the streaming era, but from let’s say 1960 to 2015 or so, the Hot 200 album chart was a much more accurate reflection of the music to which people listened than the Top 40. At one point, Jay had nine straight number one albums in nine years.
I remember seeing this clip when I was stuck deep in a depression cycle that was entwined with anxiety over my career and identity as an artist. It completely helped me course correct and is something I reach back to when that darkness lingers again.

@MatthewFerrari Tim Allen arguably was as big a star as Tom Hanks when the original Toy Story came out. It’s just that Tom Hanks has stayed Tom Hanks for more than thirty years and Tim Allen stopped being that famous a long time ago.
