As a Deliverista, when I read that op-ed, I felt I had no choice but to speak up — especially when corporations try to silence us for simply demanding basic rights.
Let me be clear: that op-ed is full of lies. It was written to defend @Instacart and attack workers like me.
Let’s be honest: NYC’s grocery app delivery workers have no labor protections. Like me, thousands of workers risk our lives every day — and still have to fight just to earn minimum pay. That’s why we count on the Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (@helloDCWP).
At a time when the federal government has abandoned us and chosen to protect corporations over workers, @helloDCWP is often the only labor agency we can rely on to defend our rights in New York City.
The claim that minimum pay will raise grocery prices? That’s just fear-mongering. These companies are making billions. They can afford to pay workers fairly without pushing costs onto families. Don’t insult New Yorkers by pretending fairness is too expensive.
And the lie that jobs will disappear if workers earn a living wage? I’ve seen the truth: these apps use deactivations to get rid of workers they don’t want to pay. They choose profit over people. That’s why we need deactivation protections and just cause.
Let’s be clear: @Instacart is trying to confuse the public, divide workers, and protect a business model built on underpaying us and forcing us to live off tips.
Thank you to NYC Council Members @SandyforCouncil and @CMJenGutierrez for your courage and leadership. We see you — and we’re not backing down.

We need to pass Good Cause Eviction at the state level, THIS legislative session.
Passing #GoodCause isn’t just sound economic policy, it’s good social policy.
The displacement of tenants disrupts the social fabric of New York's communities and buildings, like 63 Tiffany Place.
Tenants need protections from unjust evictions & massive rent increases. Our neighbors @Save63Tiffany shouldn’t be displaced from the community they created.
Let’s pass @JuliaCarmel__#GoodCause Eviction bill. @CSSNYorg's new report details why we need this housing protection.
We can’t let affordable housing like 63 Tiffany Place continue to disappear from our city.
It’s time for E&M Associates to sit down with the City and State in the name of what is right, the greater good, and the well-being of all who call 63 Tiffany home.

We stand with Council Members @tiffany_caban@ShahanaFromBK@OsseChi and thank them for their work as chairs of their committees & for their past votes in opposition to @nycmayor austerity & unjust budget priorities that hurt working class & poor New Yorkers. #CareNotCuts
It's time we stopped putting our public dollars in banks that harm our communities
The clock is ticking⏰
@NYCCouncil@NYCSpeakerAdams: pass The People's Bank Act now!

"This is where we've lived for decades...this is our home, we want to stay here." - Joy Foster, 63 Tiffany Pl tenant
No tenant should face evictions and rent hikes just because landlords wants more profits.
Irving Langer must step up so that housing agencies can #Save63Tiffany!
Tenants are fighting to #Save63Tiffany!
Irving Langer is a pattern speculator and has been on @NYCPA’s Worst Landlord Watchlist. In December, the regulatory agreement that keeps the building affordable will expire.
The landlord, City, and State must come together to act now.
We must #Save63Tiffany and protect these long-term tenants from eviction. Landlord Irving Langer: now's your chance to DO THE RIGHT THING! Meet with DHCR & HPD immediately for a solution to keep our neighbors in their homes.
