I’ve said this many times before, but let me say it again…
In 99% of cases, early extension is not the issue you should be trying to fix
What you should be trying to fix is the root cause of why you need to early extend in the first place
Believe it or not, but early extension is actually helping you hit functional shots with your current action
If you kept the action the same but removed early extension you’d likely hit it worse
Two main reasons golfers early extend are:
1. An open face at the top of the golf swing
2. Pulling the shaft down steep in transition
If you fix those then you’re less likely to early extend
I'm nowhere near an elite bench presser, but this comparison really resonated with me.
The feeling of force transfer from the ground seems directly connected to swing consistency in golf.
Like you said though, the golf swing is far more complex and gives us a lot more ways to mess it up 😅
I'm happily stuck in that rabbit hole right now. Thanks for putting this into words.
