FUD:
Web components suck! No one is using them!
But is that true?
Google:
Our annual $35 billion revenue YouTube product is built on Web Components.
Microsoft:
We converted our entire content platform from React SSR to Web Components which doubled the perf. We finally crossed the $10 billion annual revenue milestone.
Adobe:
We built Photoshop Web with Web Components.
Salesforce:
Our $31 billion annual revenue platform has been based on Web Components for years.
SpaceX:
We built our dashboard system with Web Components and launched rockets into space.
GitHub:
We've been building parts of the GitHub experience with Web Components for years.
Anyone else building with Web Components?
Amazon, Apple, Alaska Airlines, BBVA, Begin, Blizzard, BYU, Clever Cloud, Cloud Four, Comcast, EA, 11ty, ESRI, Ford, GE, GitLab, General Motors, GuideCom, IBM, Infragsitics, ING, The Internet Archive, Ionic, Joomla!, NASA, Netlify, Penn State, Reddit, Red Hat, SAP, Scania, Stripe, Ubisoft, Vaadin, Visa, Wolkswagen, Wordle, etc.

@btopro demonstrating why #webcomponents are a #musthave for any organization building multiple projects / properties online! This is a simple element I made so I could easily update PSU branding at @Eberly_ODL.

When we no longer work on buttons, icons, and the mundane needed to satisfy the mission of higher education; we get to more directly apply that time to the mission! #webcomponents transform #edu and the web in general when loaded up via @HAXTheWeb
From a conversation with @CGLDevel we realized photo 1 is the monolith. You are carrying so much weight, so much extra connotations of web that it's crushing the truck trying to deliver the website. Photo 2 is a streamlined vehicle and all new functionality is via drone
Listening to how @Eberly_ODL photographs in 3D and then wires it into the web using @HAXTheWeb and the Google model-viewer #webcomponent

Meaning @CGLDevel 's work is now ingested for use in Arts and other university courses not leveraging similar assets, but identical. His work has scaled far beyond the initial high touch experience and now powers tons of their online courses and soon arts and architecture too!
Another #webcomponents victory

@Eberly_ODL has been building #OER courses w/ HAX for years. They wanted to make a grand entrance as far as the front-door (visually) to their courses so they made the element shown.
Now it's core in HAX7 for anyone to use!
via @CGLDevel coming soon to hax..
Yes, that's a wrapper on the google model-viewer webcomponent wired into HAX. Definitely requires a loving douse of HTML to make usable beyond just the model but putting pieces like this into HAX and seeing it come to life is still amazing.
Meeting of the 1st HAX advisory group. A mix of faculty, IDs and developers across multiple colleges at PSU.
This group will help shape the future of our platform and experiences by working directly with those who need to put advanced media online, without advanced knowledge.
got a cool recruitment email from @CGLDevel , director of goal-tending and band management on @HAXTheWeb . Love this guy and excited to see the community keep growing as we gain another swath of student contributors in the coming weeks.
Never. Stop. Innovating.
Need to hand someone a slick looking flyer and boldly proclaim "I NEED TO GO TO HAX CAMP LOOK IT HAS A POSTER", then here is one of several editions coming, highlighting the fantastic new Innovation Hub we'll be sharing and learning front end webdeveloped at!
today kicks off @haxcamp staff πππ meeting to begin delegating tasks to get this thing to fly. As I send out art over the coming weeks, know that @50percentoffLiz is the maker of the things. I just give talented people a direction and a space to be creative. #webcomponents
@Tom_Var@HAXTheWeb Thanks Tom! It was recorded - I'll share whenever it's posted. As far as people w/ questions or contributions - Slack is probably the fastest: https://t.co/HpyNaCJtVU
π₯ In CSS you can size elements so that their aspect ratio stays consistent as the elements grow or shrink
β£ Great for responsive images, consistency in grid layout, etc
β£ Browser support: Edge, Chrome, Firefox, coming soon to Safari
Special moment tonight. A rare glimpse of Sid recognizing his immeasurable impact to the game. Great player, better person; congrats on 1000 Sid, to many more! #PittsburghPenguins#SidneyCrosby#Milestone
