π The ECR Net Zero Conference took place in Birmingham earlier this week! It was an amazing experience to meet with 200+ representatives from 14 UK research centres
π‘ Itβs been fantastic to work with & make so many connections with other research groups in the Net Zero space
A great turn-out for the ECR Net Zero Conference in Birmingham. So far, we've had a keynote from Prof Myles Allen of @OxfordNetZero on reaching #NetZero carbon globally, plus intros to the 14 research centres supporting the event. We're now in a plenary on #EDI#EcrNZConf2024
"The CO electroreduction performances were implemented with a three-compartment electrochemical flow cell (Supplementary Fig. 7)" - the reproducibility crisis in a nutshell... Seriously, how did this get by reviewers for Nature Communications?!
@Kathryn_Toghill I'm teaching a first year maths course for chemical engineering students. It's a classic case of half the students not knowing it and half not needing it I think
Not often that a postdoc gets the opportunity to lecture to undergraduates. I jumped on the chance for experience and to boost my CV, and after 3 lectures I have my first soul crushing student feedback (via email!). How do I make differential equations more engaging?! π€ BEEP π€
@SarahJanePotts2 Yep, this tunnel is a nightmare. There is no alternative route for my cycling commute, so I have to dangerously cross the 50mph dual carriage. I made the mistake of trying to cycle through once... replacement shoes and socks were required π
Congratulations to my fantastic wife Sapphire on her PhD graduation! I'm so proud of all her hard work getting to this day. Also a pleasure to visit Lancaster University and walk around in my robes again π This time we went to the Ashton Memorial for photos with snowy weather βοΈ
I hate the bad attitude towards cyclists on the road, but there are reckless and impatient people from both groups, so everyone must do better. I am tired of the close passes, verbal abuse and people gambling with my life while I cycle to work. Road deaths are not acceptable!
After a 9 hour train journey from Swansea yesterday, I am thrilled to be at #RSCElectrochem in Edinburgh. Great to see old colleagues and lots of CO2R talks in the programme!
Disposable bbq's on special offer at tesco last night π‘ In a heatwave and drought these should not be on sale #tesco@Tesco they are the cause of many wildfires. DON'T BUY THEM, DON'T USE THEM, DON'T SELL THEM
Great to see this work finally published. Fundamental molecular electrochemistry will always be my core interest, and this catalyst was tricky. Also I got to learn DFT calculations from my wife and we are now published together! Is this a sufficient first anniversary present? π€
