#GDC is one of the few professional gaming exhibitions worldwide. However, it is essentially still an event and an aggregation of game developers. Rather than saying the attention on GDC is declining, I prefer to attribute this chill to the global gaming industry's current product cycle and transformational dilemma.#GDC2026

When people think of Paris, the keyword that often comes to mind is "romance," relating to the city's history, character, and emotions.
But what exactly is romance? A precise, definitive definition has always been elusive. During my three-day, two-night trip to Paris this time, I suddenly realized that romance, ultimately, is about human stories.
On December 12th, the 2025 Teamfight Tactics Paris Open (TPO) grandly opened in Paris. Seizing this opportunity, we spoke with Geoffrey Virtue, Executive Producer of the Teamfight Tactics series, and Peter Whalen, Game Director of Teamfight Tactics. On Monday, renowned American gaming company Electronic Arts (EA) officially announced its acquisition by a consortium comprising Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF), Silver Lake, and Affinity Partners, led by Jared Kushner, son-in-law of former President Trump.
The transaction, valued at approximately $55 billion, is expected to be finalized in the first quarter of 2027. This deal will mark the largest all-cash sponsor privatization in history. The consortium will provide $36 billion in cash for the acquisition, with the remaining approximately $20 billion to be financed through a loan from JPMorgan Chase. Existing shareholders will receive $210 per share in cash.
The Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF), which already holds a 10% stake in EA, will maintain the same ownership level upon completion of the acquisition. Following the transaction, EA's common stock will be delisted from public markets, and current CEO Andrew Wilson will continue to lead the company.
As a major player in the gaming industry, EA owns several well-known studios, including DICE (Digital Illusions Creative Entertainment), BioWare, Motive Studios, and Respawn Entertainment. Its portfolio spans sports, shooters, and RPGs. In recent years, EA has continued to release flagship sports titles such as EA Sports FC 26, Madden NFL 26, and a reboot of its skateboarding series. The upcoming release of Battlefield 6 in October is set to be EA's core product this year.#EA

Recently, Jin Tao, the producer of NetEase's "Onmyoji," has left the company to start his own business. In his new company, Jin Tao holds a 90% stake, while Yi Xiuqin holds 10%.
We have learned that Jin Tao has obtained the IP authorization for "Onmyoji" from NetEase for his entrepreneurial venture, and his new project is to develop "Onmyoji 2." The new company will maintain a commercial partnership with NetEase going forward.
Previously, capital firms such as IDG and Sequoia had expressed interest in investing in Jin Tao's new project, and funding has already been secured. It is reported that, aside from Yi Xiuqin, Jin Tao's current team includes key members from the original "Onmyoji" core team who are involved in the new venture.
The impetus for Jin Tao's entrepreneurial move was the failure of his new game project, "Code Name: Onmyoji," to gain approval within NetEase. As early as the beginning of this year, rumors had been circulating in the industry about Jin Tao's impending departure to start his own business. It was not until April this year that Jin Tao issued an internal letter announcing the official renaming of the Zen Division to the Onmyoji Division, with himself taking over the operations of "Onmyoji" for a period of time.
Yi Xiuqin, who is co-founding the venture with Jin Tao, is the former director of NetEase's Art Design Center and joined NetEase in 2005. He worked at NetEase for nearly 19 years before officially leaving in May last year. Since then, he had been in a state of unemployment.
After Jin Tao's departure, Zheng Tao, one of the founding team members of the "Onmyoji" game, took over as the new producer of the Onmyoji Division, officially assuming responsibility for the division's operations.#Netease
