1. Ethanol imported is for Pharma and cosmetics which require a different level of purity. BY LAW you cannot import ethanol for fuels in India
2. India didn’t increase petrol prices by 50% like many other countries.

On mileage, I don't think the drop is as high as 20–30%, but it is certainly higher than what the ARAI report suggests...The mileage loss depends on the vehicle: @hormazdsorabjee

WHAT E20 CRITICS WON'T BE TELLING YOU.
1) E20 was made available for all 25 million petrol cars and 20 crore plus scooters in April 2025 last year.
2) In 2024, A year before that E19 was made similarly available.
3) About 3 years before that in 2021 E15 was introduced.
So for 5 years these vehicles have been running on E15+ blended petrol. By now we'd be seeing CARS / TWO WHEELERS STALLED AT EVERY TURN IN THE ROAD.
And if that were happening wouldn't insurance companies have increased their premiums? Wouldn't the 2nd hand petrol/scooter market have collapsed? On the contrary India's used-car market is exploding, outgrowing new-car sales to reach annual volumes of 6 million units. Valued at over $40 billion, the sector is projected to double to nearly $70–$82 billion by FY2031.
