You cannot call your political adversaries Nazi fascists and modern day Hitlers and then say political violence is wrong when your deranged lunatic supporters act on your statements and kill or attempt to kill the people you’ve attacked. I will not accept it. No one should.
Honored to host a Black history celebration at the Arkansas Governor’s Mansion, keynoted by the outstanding @UArkansas President, Dr. Charles Robinson.
.@SenTomCotton and I took the opportunity to pay tribute to Arkansas Deputy Frank Ramirez, Jr. and reflect on his service and sacrifice. Our prayers go for him, and to his loved ones and community. We must always remember the risks our law enforcement officers undertake each day.
We condemn the violence that took place here in the strongest possible terms. We grieve the loss of life in these hallowed halls, as well as the injuries suffered by those who defended our Capitol today.
And we will always be grateful for the men and women who stayed at their post to defend this historic place. To those who wreaked havoc in our Capitol today, you did not win. Violence never wins. Freedom wins. And this is still the People's House.
I am asking for everyone at the U.S. Capitol to remain peaceful. No violence! Remember, WE are the Party of Law & Order – respect the Law and our great men and women in Blue. Thank you!
